Coral £20 free bet welcome offer

Coral offer a £20 free bet for new customers. Simply bet £5 to get £20 in free bets. This is one of the easiest matched betting offers out there.

When registering with Coral, opt-in to receive promotions by email – so you can get lucrative Coral reload offers.

After registering, deposit £5 to get started.

Before you place any bets, go to the Coral homepage and select “decimal” to display the odds in decimals. This allows you to compare the Coral odds against betting exchange odds.

Placing your £5 qualifying bet

It is easy to find a £5 qualifying bet at odds of 1/2 (1.50) or above at Coral.

For example, Chelsea to beat Newcastle at odds of 1/2 (1.50).

Qualifying bet for Coral free bet

Click on Chelsea at odds of 1.50. The selection is then added to your betting slip.

Betting slip for Coral free bet

In the betting slip, enter your £5 stake and click “place bet”. The £5 qualifying bet is now placed with Coral.

A £5 bet on Chelsea at 1.50 returns £7.50 (£5 stake, plus £2.50 bet winnings).

Now let’s cover your back bet with a matching lay bet.

Laying your £5 qualifying bet

Go to the Trickybet lay calculator to work out the lay stake.

Enter the following information in to the lay calculator:

  • Bet type: Normal Bet/Qualifier/Arb
  • Bet stake: £5
  • Back odds: 1.50
  • Lay odds: 1.51
  • Lay commission: 2%, to account for the Smarkets commission

Finally click “Calculate/Refresh”

Using lay calculator Coral £5 qualifying bet

The calculator suggests a lay stake of £5.03 to complete the matched bet.

Navigate to the match odds market (called Winner at Smarkets) for Chelsea vs. Newcastle at Smarkets.

Smarkets lay bet for Coral matched betting

Lay £5.03 on Chelsea at 1.51, which gives a liability of £2.57.

This represents a £0.07 loss on the £5 qualifying bet, but you have immediately qualified for 4 x £5 free bets with Coral.

So, after completing the £5 qualifying bet the possible outcomes are:

  • If Chelsea win: plus £7.50 at Coral (£5 stake + £2.50 winnings), minus £2.57 at Smarkets = £0.07 qualifying loss
  • If Chelsea do not win: minus £5 at Coral, plus £4.93 at Smarkets (£5.03 winning lay, minus £0.10 commission) = £0.07 qualifying loss

Placing your £5 free bets

After placing a £5 qualifying bet, you will receive a total of £20 in free bets (4 x £5 free bets).

The four Coral £5 free bets are stake not returned, so use high odds to turn the free bets in to cash.

You can use the 4 x £5 free bets on the same selection four times or find four different selections.

The best odds are usually on football or horse racing.  I have chosen the 8.45 race at Kempton to demonstrate this. The fourth favourite in the race Sparkalot was available at odds of 5.50.

Coral free bet selection

Naviagte to the 8.45 Kempton race market at Coral.

Click on Sparkalot at odds of 5.50.

Your selection is now added to your betting slip.

Finally, click “place bet” to confirm the £5 free bet placement.

The potential return in the betting slip states £27.50.  However, the actual return is £22.50, as the £5 stake is not returned for Coral free bets.

Laying your £5 free bets

After placing your £5 free bet, place a lay bet at the exchange to lock-in a profit.

Go to the Trickybet lay calculator to work out the lay stake. Enter the following information in to the lay calculator:

  • Bet type: Free Bet SNR (Stake Not Returned)
  • Bet stake: £5
  • Back odds: 5.50
  • Lay odds: 5.50
  • Lay commission: 2%, to account for the Smarkets commission
  • Finally click “Calculate/Refresh”
Using lay calculator Coral £5 free bet

The calculator suggests a lay stake of £4.11 on Sparkalot at odds of 5.50.

Smarkets lay bet for Coral free bet

Naviagate to the 8.45 Kempton race at Smarkets and lay £4.11 on Sparkalot. The liability of £18.50 is the amount you stand to lose at Smarkets if Sparkalot wins.

The possible outcomes for the free bet are:

  • If Sparkalot wins: plus £22.50 at Coral, minus £18.50 at Smarkets = £4.00
  • If Sparkalot does not win: you lose nothing at Coral, as the £5 free bet was not your own money, but the lay won £4.03 (£4.11 lay stake, minus £0.08 Smarkets commission = £4.03

Backing and laying means the overall profit is £4.00 from the £5 free bet.

You should aim to convert four £5 free bets in to £16 cash, minus £0.07 qualifying bet losses, equals £15.93 net profit.

This represents a 79% return from the Coral £20 free bet welcome offer.
